The CIP Application & Verification Process

CIP is not a form.

It is a structured process designed to verify how a carrier actually operates.

The application collects information across key areas of your business and evaluates how those areas align.

The objective is not just to gather information.
It is to confirm that your operation is consistent, transparent, and verifiable.

How the Process Works

1. Application Submission
The carrier provides structured information about its operation, along with supporting documentation where required.

2. Review & Cross-Check
Key areas of the business are evaluated together, not in isolation. This includes workforce structure, payroll practices, insurance alignment, and ownership.

3. Verification
Where required, additional verification may be conducted. This can include documentation review, management discussions, and operational confirmation.

4. Determination
A designation decision is made based on whether the operation demonstrates consistency, transparency, and alignment.

What the Application Evaluates

Business Structure and Ownership
Establishes who controls the operation and identifies related entities.

Regulatory Standing
Confirms operating authorities, jurisdictions, and compliance history.

Workforce Model
Evaluates how drivers are classified and how the operation functions day-to-day.

Payroll and Compensation Practices
Confirms how drivers are paid and whether payroll aligns with classification.

Insurance Alignment
Ensures the operation is accurately represented to insurers.

Operations and Safety
Reviews maintenance practices, safety systems, and operational structure.

What This Means

The application is designed so that no section stands alone.

Information is evaluated across sections to confirm alignment.

If your operation is structured, consistent, and transparent, the process is manageable.

If there are inconsistencies, the process will identify them.

CIP is not designed to be restrictive.
It is designed to create clarity.
